US Secretary of State Pompeo warned Russia on Tuesday that if the Moscow does not lift the missiles that violate the Medium-Range Missile Treaty within 60 days, the United States will withdraw from the treaty.
When attending the NATO summit in Brussels, Belgium, Pompeo said: "Russia is responsible for the end of the treaty. Only they can save the treaty. If they admit their mistakes and take corrective action, we certainly welcome it."
He pointed out: "Russia's actions have seriously undermined the national security of the United States and its allies and partners. It is unreasonable for the United States to remain in a treaty that limits our response to Russian defaults."
Pompeo said that if Russia does not follow the treaty in 60 days, the United States will start a six-month procedure to formally withdraw from the treaty. Until then, the United States will not produce and test missiles subject to the restrictions of the Chinese Treaty.
Regarding the accusations of the United States, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Zakanova retorted: "Russia is complying with the provisions of the treaty, and the US is very clear about this."
